In the hopes of coming back stronger in Europe, Scottish giants, Celtic are reported to have entered the race to battle for the signing of Swansea defender Alfie Mawson.
The report further laid claim that the Scottish side has also been joined by other Premier League clubs, which will make the possibility of signing of Swans defender a little unclear.
West Ham United and Everton are also said to have joined in the race along with Watford are all very desperate on landing Mawson to their respective clubs.
But reports from Sky Sports, claims that the Welsh club have slapped a huge price worth of £25million, a potential buyer has to meet up with the price tag, before the Mawson can be sold.
Despite the struggle of the Swans in the Premier League this season, Mawson has not failed to impress in the team delivering astonishing performances at the heart of Swansea defence this campaign.
Meanwhile, with Celtic entering the race for the 23-year-old defender, they could only but stir things up for the Swans as they might not be able to meet up with the asking price of the defender.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has come to state some facts regarding the future of the 23-year-old centre back confirming it that talks are in the works to secure extend the stay of the defender at Liberty Stadium.
“We have had no approach, no offers from West Ham on anything to do with Alfie,” Jenkins said.
“The intentions are to keep every player and we are talking to Alfie and his agents (about a new contract).”
The Premier League contender might just be force let loose of their defender and drop the price, but it is highly unlikely for the Swans to sell to a League rival.
Which makes Celtic the favorite club to land the London-born defender, and the Bhoys will very much need to clear out some space out should an opportunity to land the Swans center back open up.
