Juventus Signs Mattia Perin as Szczesny competition

Mattia Perin

Following the departure of the goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, Serie A giants Juventus have signed Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin for a fee worth £13.2 million in a four year deal.

The 25-year-old, who was the academy product of the Genoa youth system, was named sixth for his number of clean sheets kept in the Serie A last season and has further made a total of 150 appearances in his eight years spent at the club.

Following successive loan spells to Serie B side Pescara, who later gained promotion to the Serie A in 2012, Perin made his international debut for his country Italy back in November 2014 against Albania.

So many will say that Mattia Perin was signed to the club to keep the balance in the goalkeeping options following the departure of club legend Buffon after 17-year stint with the club.

Perin, however, will be facing a stiff competition in the goalkeeping post, as former Arsenal star, Wojciech Szczesny, who is majorly considered as the Number one goalkeeper at Allianz Stadium.
