Scottish giants, Celtic will be facing a fierce battle to sign Nick Powell as the Premier League club, Brighton and Hove Albion and Championship side Aston Villa, having made an offer of £5 million for the player.
Reports from a reliable source claimed that the newly promoted club, Brighton tried to sign the Athletic star, which didn’t go through as both sides failed to agree on a deal for the star man, during the January transfer window, and now the Villans and the Bhoys have also entered the race to land the player.
The report further claim that the Seagulls are planning a coup to hijack Powell away from both Celtic and Aston Villa if they table an offer of £5 million to the Wigan board, while the Villans are currently trying to keep a hold on a Premier League promotion that could give them a lead in landing the 24-year-old.
The former Manchester United player has laid out some impressive performances this season in the League one, having found the ack of the net 12 times so far gone this season and can be deployed also as a midfielder.
With this impressive form of his, Powell could just be the man to lead Wigan Athletic out of the League One, with four outstanding game the Athletic club are just six points away from the current leaders Blackburn Rovers.
In the race to sign Powell, Aston Villa will have to maintain their position at the Championship to seek a promotion to the Premier League to make a transfer agreement. While the Albions and Celtic will just have to increase their offer for the 24-year-old to make a convincing transfer.
