On October 8, 2018, France football took to their Twitter account to announce the 30 nominees for 2018 Ballon d’Or.
For the last 10 years Ballon d’Or has been dominated by new Juventus attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona star Lionel Messi, with the duo giving no chance to an outsider a chance to claim the prolific award.
Brazilian Kaka will be said to be the “last human” to win the Ballon d’Or, who took the prize in 2007.
Before that, defender Fabio Cannavaro won it in 2006, and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho won it in 2005, in 2004 and 2003 Andriy Shevchenko and Pavel Nedved respectively.
Brazil Ronaldo took charge of the Ballon d’Orin 2002 while Michael Owen won took the trophy home in 2001.
However, the winner of the Ballon D’Or will be announced on Monday December 3rd in France, Paris.
