The player who is yet to feature in a single game for Chelsea this season, Ethan Ampadu, could just be on his way out of the club in January on a loan deal.
Rumours have been linking the Wales international out of the club since summer, and now the reports grows stronger as Championship club are set to lock heads in a bid to sign the Chelsea youngster on loan in the coming winter transfer window.
The Welsh 18-year-old, who can be deployed as a center back but majorly plays as a defensive midfield, is yet to make any sort of appearance for the Blues this season since the arrival of new manager Maurizio Sarri.
Ampadu has only made seven first team appearances for Chelsea – which was last season – and in each putting up an impressive performance in each of them. Injury has formerly kept the Welsh international from getting featured for the Sarri’s side this season.
Last summer the Blues’ boss blocked all possible loan talks for the Ethan Ampadu in which many thought the young midfielder will largely feature for the Blues this season.
Derby, which is being managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, made an approach to sign the Ampadu last summer but their efforts were blocked by the Blues manager.
Aston Villa, currently being managed by Dean Smith and former Blues star John Terry, were understood to have also showed interests in signing the Welsh international during the summer transfer window.
Should a loan deal be sanctioned for Ethan Ampadu by Chelsea in January, Derby County might just be his loan destination as Lampard have already been trusted with Blues youngsters Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori earlier.
