Manchester United have finally completed the singing of Frederico Rodrigues de Paula Santos for £47 million from Ukrianian side Shaktar Donetsk.
Fred who is currently representing his country Brazil at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, will be the Red Devils on a five year deal which will see him at the club till 2023.
The 25-year-old midfielder becomes Jose Mourinho second summer signing following Diogo Dalot being the first to arrive to his new club at Old Trafford.
Fred said BBC: “This is the biggest club in the world and I am delighted to be a part of this amazing team.
“To work with Jose Mourinho, who has won so many trophies in his time as a coach, is an opportunity not to be missed.”
Mourinho praised the midfielder’s play-making talents, he said: “Fred will complement our other midfielder’ qualities, which we need; his creative brain and passing vision will give us another dimension to our game.”
Fred, who joined the Ukraine outfit from Serie A club Internacional in the summer of 2013, made 156 appearances scoring 15 goals in the process and also helped the Miners lift three league titles, three Ukrainian Cups and four Ukrainian Super Cups.
Fred played a pivotal role for Shaktar Donetsk last season in the Champions League knockout stages following victories over Manchester City and Napoli, before eventually succumbing to 2-1 defeat against AS Roma in the Round of 16, with Fred scoring the lone goal for the Ukraine side.
