Napoli long term star, Marek Hamsik has been toying with his future, revealing he could be on his way out of the club this summer claiming he is at a point in his career where he should sought out a new adventure and if done, will be ending his 11 years stint with the Italian club with the Chinese League already requesting for his signature.
Amid all other reports linking high-profile players with a move to Asia, the Slovakian international will be the most recent following the departure of Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta to Japan this summer, who claims to have similar goals with the Slovak.
Marek Hamsik has always been the one to shove away all rumours linking him away from Europe in the past and have always stayed loyal to Napoli, and so far in his career with the Azzurri has registered 500 appearances for the club.
However, the 30-year-old midfielder believes it is high time he seeks new challenge away from his club, with interests emerging from China.
Speculating about his future, Hamsik said vis Goal: “I’m disappointed that we missed out on the title again. I’m sorry, because our great fans deserve this triumph, and I thank them for their great support.
“I’ve spent all this time here, giving all my strength. Maybe now is the time when our paths will diverge. I’d like to try something new.”
Hamsik’s father, Richard also added in the media, claiming his Napoli chapter and begin to open a new one, addressing the interests from the Chinese Super League sides.
He said: “The interest is serious but negotiations aren’t easy.
“For three years Marek has dismissed any idea of leaving, only focusing on winning the Scudetto with Napoli, but they’ve failed to do that again.
“The problem is that it’s not the main transfer window in China right now, that only happens in winter.
“So the first question, therefore, is when he would leave for China. Clubs have different ideas, the Asian season is up and running and Chinese teams have limits on the number of foreigners in their squad.
“Another thing is that Marek still has a three-year contract in Naples, so it’s all in the hands of his agents and his employer.
“Right now I see it as being 60-40 in favour of his departure to China. Now Marek’s agent, Juraj Venglos, is going to talk to the president of the club.”
Marek Hamsik has made a name for himself in Europe and laying a foundation at the Italian having surpassed Diego Maradona record of highest goal tally, scoring 120 goals for the Azzurri.
