Arsenal are currently close to pulling off their first post-Wenger signing as they are said to be in pole position to land Jean Michael Seri, which is widely said to be courtesy of new director Raul Sanllehi, according to reports from France.
The 26-year-old midfielder, has been a long-term target for the Gunners over the years following his impressive performances shown at the Ligue 1 competitions, with rivals Chelsea also said to have jumped in the race to sign the Ivorian.
Reports from France via Metro is currently reporting that the North Londoners have the higher advantage of landing the midfielder, which is as a result of Sanllehi connections in Europe.
The former Barcelona man, connections while in charge with the Catalans have given the Gunners an upper hand in bringing in the midfielder, who is an old target for the La Liga giants could be on his way to the Emirate Stadium.
During his spell at Barcelona, Sanllehi tried to land Seri to the Camp Nou but failed as the board favoured to sign Paulinho instead. Further reports claim that the-now-director at Arsenal kept a kept a good relationship with the Ivorian midfielder in spite of the failed transfer and he is currently holding talks with the player’s agent.
With no manager currently in chahrge at the Emirates, Sanllehi and also newly recruited, Sven Mislintat, will both be in charge with all the transfers of players at the club.
Contributing to Arsenal poor performances this season is the problem at the midfield, as Jean-Michael Seri is considered as a good solution to the centre squad.
