On this day, Champions League holders Real Madrid have now finally displayed Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior as their new signing of the summer.
The Los Blancos acquired the 18-year-old forward for a fee reported to be £38.7m and was presented to their many fans earlier this week.
According to report sourcing from BBC, Madrid has already agreed on a fee for the teenager a year ago with Brazil club Flamengo.
Vinicius has only featured for a senior team for 17 minutes before he agreed a deal to join Real Madrid this summer bit before then has already been voted Best player as the Brazil U-17 won the South American Championship last year.
The 18-year-old was presented to the Madrid fans alongside Brazil legend Ronaldo – who bagged 104 goals in 177 appearances while playing for the Los Blancos from 2002 to 2007 – “This is the best opportunity a football player could have,” he said
“I’m honoured to have reached the pinnacle in football, Real Madrid, at only 18 years of age.”
Madrid president Florentino Perez also shows his excitement in their new signing, saying: “He’s a player who is already considered one of the great hopes of Brazilian and world football.”
Vinicius Junior played a pivotal role for Flamengo’s shot to the top of the Brazil Serie A finding the back of the net six times and further providing three assists in their 11 league and Copa Libertadores matches.
