League One champions Wigan Athletic have officially added to their squad Peterborough United midfielder Leonardo Da Silva Lopes in a four-year contract deal.
The Newly-promoted Championship club were reported to have signed the midfielder for an unknown fee, but Chairman of Peterborough Darragh MacAnthony claimed that a “seven figure sale” was received for Lopes.
The 19-year-old midfielder, who arrived to the Boro team at the age of 16 back in 2015, has made 107 appearances for the League One side.
Wigan boss, Paul Cook said via BBC: “This is a really strong addition to our squad,
“Leo has been one of the best young players in the EFL over the past couple of seasons.”
Confirming the seven figure sale, MacAnthony posted on his Twitter account: “Delighted for you Leo & well done to our Academy with another seven-figure sale on talented teenager who will do brilliant as he rises through the leagues.
“Not always appreciated as ‘One of our own’ whilst here but football people can see the talent. We will miss you Leo.”

Wigan Athletic are looking to return to the Championship better and stronger, following their recent activities in the transfer market this summer and no doubt Leonardo Da Silva Lopes will be a great addition to the club in their fight at the Second tier of English football.
