Report: Napoli interested in Arsenal superstar Lucas Torreira
Ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, Italian giants Napoli have been reported to have shown interest in signing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been able to make a total of 20 appearances for the North London club this season in all competitions finding the back of the net twice.
The Uruguayan international didn’t get much start under former Arsenal manager Unai Emery – who prefers to use Xhaka or Guendouzi ahead of him. The new interim manager Freddie Ljunberg took charge and he started Torreira in their last two matches against Brighton and West Ham.
Reports sourcing from Italian outlet, Il Mattino, claims that Napoli are currently preparing an offer worth €25million for the Uruguayan midfielder should they fail to sign him on loan.
Should the Italian club acquire Torreira’s signature in January, he would be an amazing signing to the club as he is no stranger to how is being played in the Serie A. He formerly played for Sampdoria before joining the Gunners.
The Naples’ promise of game time could inspire a move, but as he is currently being used in the starting lineup under Ljunberg and if he turns out to be used consecutively in their upcoming matches, Torreira will be a hard one to sign for the Italian club.
