Inter Milan & Atletico Madrid enters race with West Ham for Olivier Giroud
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Serie A giants Inter Milan has been reported to have joined West Ham in on the race to sign Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
The France international, who has dropped down the pecking order in the Chelsea team this season, has been reported to be on the radar of the two European giants, with League contender Crystal Palace also said to be keen on the striker.
Despite playing a huge part in France 2018 World Cup win in Russia, the striker has not been favoured upfront for Frank Lampard, who prefers to play his Tammy Abraham (his main striker) and Michy Batshuayi as his backup. Although he was able to start in their Premier League match against West Ham last week.
Now that the Blues’ transfer ban has been uplifted, Lampard might just be looking to sell the Frenchman and possibly find a replacement in January.
West Ham, on the other hand, has had troubles with signing a good striker to the team, and with the long term link to Giroud might see them contending to sign the French striker in the coming winter transfer window.
Should the Hammers become keen on securing the signature of striker, the good news is that they stand a chance while the bad news is they will have to battle with several European clubs to sign him, which is what they do every transfer window.
With Euro 2020 drawing closer, Olivier Giroud will be looking to get more game time – which could be away from the Frank Lampard’s team – as he needs to ensure himself a spot in Didier Deschamps’ squad that will take on the tournament.
